No Pain, No Gain

“Most people have come to prefer certain of life’s experiences and deny and reject others, unaware of the value of the hidden things that may come wrapped in plain or even ugly paper.”

Nobody wants to have problems in life.  That is just simple human nature.

It is also human nature to want inner peace, to feel calm and content. You may tend to believe peace will arrive when your problems depart.  But inner peace does not come from resolving your problems.  Instead, it comes from cultivating perspective, meaning and wisdom precisely at the time that life deals you a difficult hand.  In other words, when you are in pain, that is the time to ask God to give you perspective and wisdom to handle the pain. Sure, you can ask Him to help resolve the problem, but make sure you also ask for peace to deal with the problem.  This simple request, combined with a receptive heart and mind, creates the perfect conditions for calm within the storm.  Inner peace is a spiritual quality, and most spiritual growth comes from pain.

No pain, no gain.
