TONY DUNGY ON DEALING WITH DIFFICULTIES

Following is a four minute excerpt from an interview I did with Tony Dungy where he talks about how trusting God with some of his relatively smaller setbacks and disappointments earlier in his life is what enabled him to trust God when his son Jamie took his own life.

"I think the true measure of trusting the Lord and putting faith into practice occurs during our times of greatest adversity."  -- Tony Dungy

TALKING ABOUT FAITH IN A SECULAR WORLD

Why are we so reluctant to talk about faith?  Not an "in your face" kind of discussion -- just some subtle clues that not only lets others know we are people of faith, but also that we are open to talking about it.  In this video interview, Michael Wright, VP of a large public university, shares his insights about what does and doesn't work when bringing our faith into our secular workplaces and communities.

"We've created an entire society of diversions to talk about, but they are not the most important things to talk about." - Michael Wright

TONY DUNGY TALKS ABOUT FAITH

I had the opportunity to interview Tony Dungy in 2008, following his Super Bowl Championship and just prior to his retirement from coaching.  He was very open about how his faith became such an essential part of his life, and he shared his insights about how others can grow their faith as well.

A QUIET EXAMPLE IS NO LONGER ENOUGH

Francis of Assisi once said, 'Preach the Gospel at all times, and when necessary, use words."  His point was that we need to be examples through our actions.  He's right, we do.  But we are at a point in time when it is necessary to use some words.   Listen for ideas on how to do this.
